Usage and spend
Every Code Assistant request is made with one developer’s key in one team, so its tokens and cost are recorded against a person and a project. Developers read their own figures on Connect an IDE; tenant admins and auditors read everyone’s on Usage by developer. The figures come from the usage ledger, which records tokens and cost per request. Prompts and code are not stored.
Who can open it
Section titled “Who can open it”| Role | What they see |
|---|---|
| Admin | Usage by developer, and their own usage on Connect an IDE. |
| Builder | Their own usage on Connect an IDE. |
| Auditor | Usage by developer. |
| End user, Reviewer | Cannot open the page. |
Your own usage
Section titled “Your own usage”On Connect an IDE, Your usage this month shows Cost, Requests, Input tokens and Output tokens across all your keys. It reads No requests from your keys this month until your editor calls a model with your key.
Usage by developer
Section titled “Usage by developer”The tab covers the current month, from its first day to now, in UTC.
- Figures. Cost this month, Active developers, Requests and Tokens (input and output).
- Teams. The projects the Code Assistant is turned on for, with Developers, Cost and Budget. Budget shows the project’s own budget as spent of limit tokens in its current period, monthly when it has a monthly budget and daily otherwise, or No budget. The spent figure counts every key in the project, developer keys and application keys alike, because that is what the budget enforces.
- Developers. Spend through each developer’s own keys, highest first: Developer (with how many keys they hold), Teams, Requests, Tokens, Cost and Last used. Expand a developer to see By model: Requests, Input tokens, Output tokens and Cost per model. A developer who holds a key and has not used it yet is listed with zeros.
When some spend came through developer keys that have no owner, the tab says Some IDE spend is not named to a developer and names the keys. That spend is in the totals but under no developer. Keys made before owners were recorded are the usual cause: revoke them on Keys and budgets and have their holders create their own.
How budgets apply
Section titled “How budgets apply”A developer key is a key of its team’s project. Its requests count against that project’s budget and against the tenant’s, as an application key’s do. When a budget is spent and its action blocks, the gateway answers 429 with budget_exceeded until the period rolls over. Set budgets on Keys and budgets.
How the figures are computed
Section titled “How the figures are computed”- Cost is in the currency of the price book that priced each request. A month with nothing priced shows the platform currency. A month priced in two currencies shows no total currency, because the sum would not be true.
- Each figure is the exact sum of the requests it covers, rounded once. A total can therefore differ by one minor unit from the sum of the rounded rows above it. Statements on Billing sum rounded lines.
- Merge request reviews, Ask answers and Security work are charged to the tenant. See Usage.
